Direct2Drive Arrives in UK

Yesterday IGN announced that their download service for PC games, Direct2Drive, has expanded its reach to the UK. What does this mean? Well, if you’re not one for getting out to a local game shop, you can now download Oblivion and The Shivering Isles from the convenience of your home.

Visit here to start downloading if you’re across the pond from us. For those that are stateside, you’ll want to visit the original Direct2Drive site here.

Keep in mind that if you’re downloading Oblivion and/or Shivering Isles from Direct2Drive, there’s a patch available with each download that is specific to the D2D version.

  1. Great to hear but, wow, £10-£15 more expensive than a high street store? Together with no costs for the dvd, manual or box.

  2. I have to agree, that price is outrageous for something you cant physically hold. for example here;-1;-1;-1&sku=432336
I could get the game, with box and manual, for a mere £24 and actually have something to show for it. Sorry IGN but no sale on D2D, unless you start selling it for £24 or less (which seems fair considering) any sane person is just going to buy it from the shops.

  3. Another thing to consider with D2D Oblivion is that it is incompatible with OBSE (Oblivion Script Extender) because its executable is encrypted, which means some very good mods (ie Thieves’ Arsenal, Streamline, Deadly Reflex and many others) won’t work with it.

  4. Direct2Drive STOLE money from my account. I ordered a game, my bank account was debited, but after a month, I still don’t have the game. Their customer service dept won’t help. I’ve repeatedly asked for a refund, but they won’t refund my money. Don’t Buy from Direct2Drive.
