Bethesda Softworks Announces The Elder Scrolls® IV: Shivering Islesâ„¢ PLAYSTATION®3 Retail Disc Now Shipping

Official Expansion Disc to Award-Winning Role Playing Game to be Available This Week

November 20, 2007 (Rockville, MD) – Bethesda Softworks®, a ZeniMax Media company, announced today that The Elder Scrolls® IV: Shivering Islesâ„¢ for PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system from SCEA is now shipping to North American retail stores. This standalone disc will allow gamers who already own The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion® to experience the award-winning expansion.

This new retail product follows the October release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion® Game of the Year Edition (GotY) for PLAYSTATION®3 system, which includes the Shivering Isles expansion. Originally released in March 2006 for Windows and Xbox 360â„¢ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and in March 2007 for PLAYSTATION®3 system, Oblivion has already earned countless awards from publications around the world and won numerous Game of the Year and RPG of the Year awards.

Oblivion features a powerful combination of free-form gameplay, unprecedented graphics, cutting edge AI, character voices by acting legends Patrick Stewart, Sean Bean, Terrance Stamp, and Lynda Carter, and an award-winning soundtrack. Gamers can choose to unravel Oblivion’s epic narrative at their own pace or explore the vast world in search of their own unique challenges.

With more than 30 hours of new gameplay, Shivering Isles allows you to explore an entirely new plane of Oblivion – the realm of Sheogorath, the Daedric Prince of Madness. Shivering Isles features a bizarre landscape split between the two sides – Mania and Dementia –filled with vast, twisting dungeons mirroring the roots of the trees they are buried within. Sheogorath himself looks to you to be his champion and defend his realm and its inhabitants from destruction as you discover all new items, ingredients, spells, and much more.

Shivering Isles for PLAYSTATION®3 system will also be available for download on the PLAYSTATION®Network (North American, English only) beginning November 29th. Shivering Isles is rated M for Mature by the ESRB. For more information on Oblivion, Shivering Isles, or The Elder Scrolls, visit

  1. Awesome news, Pete. Thanks for all the hard work you guys put in on the PS3 version…us PS3 owners really appreciate.

I might as well ask the obvious, almost cliche, follow-up question: Any news on the rest of the DLC for PS3?

  2. Great! But I’m still waiting for GotY edition (for PS3) to hit the stores here in Europe.

Does this also imply that you will offer the other official plugins (like the horse armor) over Playstation Network?

  3. Yeah, good news!

I also hope you will be able to release the DLC on PSN soon 🙂 I know a lot of people that would love to be able to get them for their PS3.

Still waiting for the PS3 GOTY version here in Europe… only a few weeks left!

Thanks for the update and for your hard work trying to make Oblivion and SI available for everyone!

  4. I LOVE YOU GUYS! Seriously… hot sex and everything. This made my day. I was update about Haze being delayed but now I can play more Oblivion until it releases! 🙂

  5. Simply incredible news! Can’t wait to play Shivering Isles. Of course, I too am going to ask the obvious question: Does this mean the other DLC will become available soon? Thanks for all the hard work guys.

  6. This is great news, though I will still just buy the boxed version, I have to say, great job guys, as a PS3 owner, I am proud to have Oblivion be one of my games.

My sincerest hopes that I will soon be able to get some of the other downloadable content soon.

  12. Hey, is there any dates or ideas when the ps3 will start to get DLC. i’m really getting sick of waiting i really reallllllyyyyyyyyyy want ittttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! plzzzzzzzzzz!

  13. Adding DLC would be nice but for all the long waiting i would even be happy to have a date for SI I’m bored with my ps3 and need some updates…..

  14. *siiigh*

Nine months and still no Shivering Isles on PSN. Guess I’ll just delete the 4.4 GB of Oblivion data that’s only taking up space on my PS3 HDD.

  15. What about Europe? We don’t have the right to have it??
Even if it’s only SI, screw the rest.
It’s already June of 2009, XBox and PC 2007, 2 years isn’t enough????????????
We want the game in Europe!!!! Is it that hard? Or at least let us have the US version to work on the Europe version of Oblivion…
