What we’re playing: RPG/MMO extravaganza

Looking through the responses I got to my “What we’re playing” email this morning, it seems like most of the devs are spending their time playing some of the new RPGs that are now out. In terms of single-player RPGs, Penny Arcade: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, is already becoming a fan favorite at the office. Meanwhile in the MMORPG realm, Age of Conan is beginning to impede on precious World of Warcraft play time. You’ll also notice that Square’s newest RPG on the DS, The World Ends with You, is getting some serious attention.

After taking a look, let us know what you’re playing.

Michael Lattanzia, QA: Age of Conan, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles: My Life As A King (whew, I think that name needs to be longer), The World Ends With You, and thinking of finally picking up On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness.

Ryan Salvatore, QA: 2 games that I will collectively call “The World of
Warcraft Ends with You.”

Fred Zeleny, Acronym Enthusiast: Finishing up TWEwY, reading some D&D4E,
and maybe picking up PA:otRSPoD.

Joel Burgess: Howardian Immersion Therapy (ie reading/playing/watching Conan stuff).

Gavin Carter, Producer: Non-stop Fallout 3 with a side of Professor
Layton and the Curious Village of People Who Never Stop Talking and Just
Need to Give Me the Puzzle Already.

Craig Lafferty, Producer: Metal Gear Solid 4.

Gary Noonan, Character Animator: Successfully installed and updated FFXI,
so it’s back to my 51 DRG/SAM after an 18 month layover.

Jesse Tucker, Level Design: Boom Blox, GTA IV, Fallout 3.

Dan Ross, QA: Tetris – Moving Truck Edition.

Aaron Mitschelen, QA: LotRO, Persona 3: FES, Ninja Gaiden II (if it will quit kicking my BUTT…)

Dane Olds, Artist:

Fallout 3, Age of Conan, Mega Man ZX Advent… (having to grit my teeth
through this one.)

Cory Dornbusch, QA: Sins of a Solar Empire, Warhammer 40k with
expansions, GTA4, and TF2.

Matt Grandstaff: GTA IV, wishing I could pick up my copy of Metal Gear.

Nate Purkeypile: TF2, Team Fortress 2, Tee Eff Two.

Orin Tresnjak, Graphics Programmer: Rez HD, Age of Conan, reading the
new D&D rulebooks.

Pete Hines: On the Rain-Slick Precipice, Rock Band, CoH, Sins of the Solar Empire, Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, Disgaea, Lego Indiana Jones.

By the way, nice awards: 1 place: 5 domains and 5 webhosts payed for one year. 🙂

  2. @Princess Stomper
Actually, they haven’t. You can sign up right here: https://signup.worldofwarcraft.com/trial/10dayfreetrial.htm
My roomie recently tried it out through that. His only lasted 3 days though, because he purchased the full game on the 3rd day. =P
Also, they now have something called Scroll of Resurrection, where you can give someone who hasn’t subscribed for more than 90 days a free 10 day reactivation of their account.

  3. Currently playing Dawn of War & Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of the Undrentide. It’s kind of a classic PC game session for me at the moment.

  4. I’ll be playing GTA4 and Fallout 2. Maybe some Oblivion tomorrow night. I have a new FCOM load order I optimized today.

  5. Installing and playing every darn game under the sun on my new dual core 2.5 pc with a 500 gig Harddrive,500 gig external drive,2gigs of memory,GeForce 8600 GTS,new motherboard,500watt power supply etc etc. Lets just say i have seen the ultimate glory of OBLIVION 😀

Here are some of the goodies am playing this weekend:

    QUAKE 4
WARHAMMER 40k DAWN OF WAR series
NOSFERATU with the random changing levels for every new game.
DOOM 3 and RESSURECTION OF EVIL Expansion.

And who knows what else by next week?

  6. Oh i forgot. Am also playing HALF LIFE 2 and TWO WORLDS with its lame online activation. Ugh if they have this in the fall sequel am not buying it. Shoo what if the company goes out of business people are gonna have to resort to crack hacks to play the game.

  7. Age of Conan and Age of Conan. Then I might play some Age of Conan later… that’s if I’m not playing Age of Conan.

  8. Playing:

Oblivion (xbox 360) – trying to get all the houses
Fable (xbox) – trying to be the bad guy
Fallout 2 – I wanted to see how mature this game is

And thank you for making Fallout 3!
