Fallout 3 nominated for BAFTA, GDC Awards

No, we’re not up for an Oscar, but this week Fallout 3 received nominations in multiple categories for both the Game Developers Choice Awards and the British Academy Video Game Awards — including Game of the Year nominations.

For the GDC Awards, Fallout 3 was nominated in the following categories:

  • Best Game Design
  • Best Visual Art
  • Best Writing
  • Game of the Year

Fallout 3 received the following nominations for The British Academy Video Game Awards:

  • Best Game
  • Original Score
  • Story and Character
  • Technical Achievement
  • GAME Award of 2008 (public vote)

BAFTA will take place on March 10th in London. The GDC awards will be announced at this year’s 2009 Game Developers Conference (March 23-27) in San Francisco.

  1. I have the Bethesda Blog widget and a link to the Official Fallout 3 Home page on our group, and nothing has been mentioned about the delay in the release dates for the next two DLC for Fallout 3, however I read that it is to be delayed a month per each DLC.

If this news is accurate, why am I hearing it from outside sources? This blog page or your Official Fallout 3 page should be the first with news about your games. Please keep your pages up to date, these release dates are important to your consumer, and if there is to be a delay we should be hearing it from you first.

Please post something to let us know if this is rumor or accurate, and if it is accurate, please in the future post to your consumer before giving the info to the outside sources.

You’ve always told us to come here for the latest news on your games. Makes me wonder what Elder Scrolls news I may be missing by coming here first!

  2. I’m not upset over the delay in the release, I realize things happen sometimes when trying to produce the awesome games and DLC you provide your consumers. What bothers me is that there was nothing said about it on any official Bethesda site or official Fallout 3 site, but it has been on the internet for days. Your Bethesda sites should provide updates before (or at least concurrent with) the outside sources. I come to you first for my info and pass it along to my Bethesda Lovers group, or to confirm or contradict rumors, feeling this should be the most reliable source of information (as you say on your Bethesda Main Page – which as of this morning still did not mention the delay). The communication on your DLC release dates, (etc.) really should be heard here first, as everyone frequenting your official sites is your consumers. By the way, Operation Anchorage ROCKED !!
