PlayStation 3 DLC Update

Over at PlayStation.Blog, Ash put together a blog post with an update on the status of Fallout 3 DLC. Here’s a snippet from Ash’s post:

“So when can you expect Fallout 3 DLC? We still have a ways to go. We are knee deep in testing at the moment. We’re hoping to have the first DLC out by the end of September. That long? Yes, unfortunately. Keep in mind that not only do we need to test each DLC on PS3, we also need to test each DLC when used in conjunction with each of the other DLC, as well as all of them together, along with the entire original game.

I do have good news! We have decided that Broken Steel will be the first release since it is easily the most requested DLC from our fans. Broken Steel allows you to continue playing the game after completing the Main Quest, raises the level cap to 30, and includes 4-6 hours of additional gameplay. It is also the one DLC that requires you to finish the Main Quest from the game to play the new content.”

Read Ash’s post for the latest. When we have more details to share, we’ll let you know.

  1. Thank you for updating us, thank you for posting this on both the playstation blog, and on this blog, and thank you for releasing Broken Steel first.

  2. I’m not gonna pretend I’m not disappointed, but thank you for giving us an update on the situation… we’ve waited a very long time and there’s nothing worse than knowing what’s happening. I just have to wonder why the “late June” release date was announced in the first place, when it appears that there was never any chance of it being met…

The decision to release Broken Steel first is a good one though, and goes some way towards making up for this, so thanks.

  3. Pushed back again?
Well, at least there is an info update.
I just hope, this doesn’t mean another tragedy like oblivion, only releasing major dlcs like broken steel while canceling other dlcs.

  4. May as well announce now that the PS3 GOTY release will be pushed back too, and by a considerable length of time. I mean there’s no way your marketing guys can possibly expect to hit the attachment target of all 5 DLCs at £7 and change a pop in a little over six weeks, everyone will just wait for the GOTY and trade in the “broken” copy they were originally sold, at least those that are still interested in the game anyway.

  5. Hey you guys are # 1. Take your time please it’s worth the wait. I’m a ps3 fan boy. I’ll always come back to bethesda. I can’t wait for a new Elder scrolls!!!! Just one question will it be possible to make the game epic in size. Bring all the locations together for a mmo. Or even a Morrowind for ps3? Oh yeah you guys would make an awsome Civil war & Indian era!

  6. not buying anything from bethesda again. if a game interests me i will rent, borrow or buy used. not one penny to devs who lead ps3 owners by the nose. first no dlc, ok beat the game and all trophies on 3 playthroughs so i got rid of it. then dlc is coming end of june. all right kicked myself for getting rid of it and swore at beth for lieing. now september which will be 2010 when all is finally released. blame the sales #s so you wont release on ps3 in the future but we know who is to blame for this debacle. almost seems that might have been part of the deal with m$oft from the start. if any employees still have souls to sell to the highest bidder, let me know.

  7. Disappointing to say the least. I assume PS3 owners will actually get the DLC?

I wonder though if there’s much point in me trying to get the DLC for PS3 since ALL DLC won’t be up on the Playstation Store til after the announced release date of GOTY (that’s if GOTY gets released on time for PS3 and if the DLCs will be released one after the other). And so I will probably find myself having to buy a GOTY copy instead… which is pretty annoying really having to buy the game again basically and play the game from the beginning again.

  8. All right while I am angry I’m also glad I’ll have the dlc how about a price cut for our trobles oh and next time make dlc avialable to all don’t sell out I’m still am a bethseda/ps3 fanboy
