Details on Fallout 3 DLC and Game of the Year Edition

Below are details on Fallout 3 DLC for PlayStation 3, as well as an update on Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition.

PlayStation 3 Downloadable Content

Today we released an update for the PS3 version of Fallout 3 that addresses a number of issues, includes some optimizations, and adds trophy support for the DLC. The first DLC for PS3, Broken Steel, will be available next Thursday, September 24th. That will be followed by the release of “Operation: Anchorage” and “The Pitt” on October 1st, and “Point Lookout” and “Mothership Zeta” on October 8th.

These dates are for English versions of the game. As soon as we have updates for other territories, we’ll let you know.

Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition

We are also pleased to announce that Fallout 3 Game of the Year edition (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC) will be available at retail on Tuesday, October 13th.  The Game of the Year edition includes Fallout 3 and all five DLCs. The discs will include the title updates you will need to play the DLC — so an online connection is not required.

The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions will retail for $59.99 and the Games for Windows version will be available for $49.99.

  1. To answer my own question the DLCs will be costing a rather shocking £7.99 which is not only a major price hike over the US but also a not insignificant 20% higher than 360 Fallout fans were charged some 9 months ago when the content was first released.

I already lost pretty much all respect for Bethesda when they sold out their PS3 fans on their biggest game to date, but to screw us again by charging such a premium rate for what is essentially a much belated port of rather straight forward expansion pack? I didn’t think you could sink any lower than you did already with the original exclusivity and the lies surrounding it, I guess I wrong.

  2. Its 16:30 est… and still no content online…. what gives? is this going to be a 23:59 on the 24th cop out?? haven’t we already waited more than long enough for this DLC?

  3. I imagine folks at Bethseda are scrambling to work out a bug or two in getting the DLC online. They’ve already said they’ll let us know when it’s up and running – just keep checking the blog for updates.

But something always goes wrong at the last minute so give folks time to work it out.

Thank you DLC team! Now, um… get it working, please?

  4. Its Thursday the 24 where are the DLC’S for fall out 3 were we lied to again? I’m furious and I think I have been more than patient.

  5. THANKS FOR FINALLY GIVING IT TO US!!!!!! and i was wondering when i get the goty edition will all the dlc’s load at the same time? from what i know you just have to walk around a bit for most of them to start (excluding broken steel) so will this cause my ps3 to freeze?

  6. It’s great to see that the DLC actually made it to the PS3 version. Last year, I decided to buy the PS3 collector’s edition rather than the XBOX360 version, fully aware of the fact that the DLC would not necessarily be forthcoming for the PS3 version.

So, other than so many other players who were very vocal about the PS3 DLC arriving not at all or so late, I was rather pleasantly surprised.

But, here’s the downer: I can’t buy or play the PS3 DLC because I bought the UK version of the PS3 collector’s edition, and I reside in Germany. I don’t think the PS3 collector’s edition was even sold in Germany. Anyway, the German PlayStation store does not (currently) sell the DLC material. And I cannot switch to the UK PlayStation store because my credit card ties me to German locale.

This does not seem sensible to me. Seeing that the DLC is not available in any PlayStation store other than UK, here’s hoping that you may be able to resolve the matter of allowing the DLC to be used with “Fallout 3” versions that don’t match the locale of the customer’s PlayStation store account, if and when the time comes to release the material in other PlayStation stores.

Well, and if that doesn’t work out, I’ll just buy the GOTY edition next year. It might even be cheaper than buying the five expansions separately, come to think of it 😉

  7. stoked!!!waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!

  8. I love Bethesda for TES and Call of Ctulhu , but Fallout … When i saw Fallout 3 , it was a true tragedy for me . First mind : to throw a DVD in the fire . I think , only non Fallout fan’s could vote for this game as a best one this year 🙁 And here we goes … all platforms . Anyway , good luck in everything and please , dont make Fallout 4 .

PS: Poor , poor Black Isle studios … they were gods …

  9. Fallout3, This game is absolutely beautiful. These programmers are godz in the design. There is just so much to do and you never know the outcome…I dunno, maybe it’s just me but the game is just spectacular.

  10. 2joe :

    1. There are such ppl as gamedesigners , conceptartists , etc. and they do all design , not programmers . Beside , unique Fallout atmosphere concepts was created by Black Isle studios .

  11. Will people who purchase the Xbox 360 version of the “Game of the Year Edition” recieve the free premium theme on the disk?
I was just wondering as I will have bought all the DLC, I even pre-ordered before the free theme giveaway cut off.

  12. I downloaded Mothership Zeta from Windows Live, and the Wondows Live download manager reported that the download and installation were both successful. However, when I start the game, the mysterious radio signal I’m supposed to get never occurs. Is there something I’m supposed to do to activate the module. I’m on a PC Vista platform.

  13. yupp its 5:42 and niether point lookout or mothership zeta have showed up in the playstation store. Any info on when the add-ons are gonna be released already??

  14. @ gstaff:

old saves DO NOT work with goty – at least not in canada. there seems to be an issue with the SKUs of the original F3 and the goty edition. this is an issue bethesda probably should fix as soon as possible. there are already a few people who are very angry over this

  15. please please please, fix the game save issue with a patch as soon as possible, Bethsoft team!

I need to kick some serious enclave ass, and can’t do it as a wimpy level 1 vault dweller.

  16. Please, please fix the region problems that won’t allow us to play our old game saves in Canada. I traded my original copy today and picked up the GOTY adition to keep playing this awesome game. I have 100 hours invested in my game and do not want to start over again…>.>

  18. I recently bought Fallout 3 GOTY edition for the PC, and it’s a great game, but I’m having problems getting the add-ons (The Pitt, etc) to work.
I installed disc 1, tried installing disc 2 and thought it worked (thought it didn’t), and downloaded the update to version 1.7.
I have since played through the entire regular game, reached level 20, and completed the main purifier quest. If the add-ons had loaded properly, the game’s supposed to keep going after the purifier scene, but it just ends.
I have since re-installed the entire game (discs 1 and 2). I’m certain disc 2 was installed properly this time, and I applied the same update to version 1.7. I kept my old saves, but the game still ends with the purifier.
Why won’t the game recognize the add-ons? The files for each are installed in the game’s data folder. Is it because I played through the game without having the add-ons installed in the first place? I’ve been trying to find some answers for what’s going on here, but I haven’t been able to find anything relevant yet.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  19. @ Addason & riley I too am having problems with the dlc 4Gb system memory windows 7, I may wind upinstalling the entire fallout 3 goty on windows xp.

  20. Having the same problem too, Been waiting with the disc juttering away in it’s tray for over an hour now as I have tried to find info on this problem but only found the answer is…… just wait?
Some say 10 mins, some say 1-2 hours, What is going on here? Have I to uninstall it all again and try again as this is doing my head in.
Anyone managed to install the dlc yet or are we all stuck with the stuck disc that does nothing?
    Somebody, anybody, what’s going on???

  21. YESSSS!! Sorted it! Re-installed it all over again, straight after it’s installed, before it starts messing about with the new windows live instalation and all that, stick disc 2 in, right click on your disc in my computer and explore, wait for a minuite or two for everything to load and Right click the aplication and run as administrator, then a few mins later click ok and run it!
