What we’re playing

Just as Bioware has guys admitting to being fans of our games, we’ve got plenty of folks here that giddy when a new Bioware game is released. This was definitely the case this past week with the release of Dragon Age Origins.  As I write this on a Sunday night, I see at least six developers playing it on Xbox LIVE (with probably more playing on PC and PS3).

Outside of Dragon Age, it seems that Borderlands, Brutal Legend, and Torchlight are among the most popular games currently being played by our team.

Below is the list for this week. Let us know what you’re playing.

Ashley Cheng: Dragon Age, Madden 10, and Bookworm on iPhone.

Jon Paul Duvall: Borderlands and Dragon Age.

Tony “MMO money MMO problems” Greco: Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box, and a great game called twiddling my thumbs while I wait for MW2 to come out.

Gary Powell: Dragon Age Origins, Borderlands, and Demon’s Souls.

Orin Tresnjak: Finally getting around to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare before the sequel comes out. Also, Mirror’s Edge on PC to check out the improved visuals.

Great Shogun Warrior Raideen! Talk about a rpg colors and stat mind rush! Oooo M&Ms mental candy for the brain.

Am enjoying the heady high of playing DRAGON AGE ORIGINS with my gruffy looking warrior dwarf and sexy wide eyed bald headed female magi.

When needing to recharge from the DOA orgy am playing:

GOTHIC 3 with the community patch

  2. [I love DRAGON AGE! but… it definitely has its problems

Left by Billy Zane on November 9th, 2009]

Billy Zane a patch for DRAGON AGE was released which may solve some of your problems. I ran into a few myself with the patch installed like companions not continuing to follow their orders in battles eventhough i never gave them any new ones so i have to click on them to give the command again. Dont know if its just too much going on and some of the ai shutting down etc.

I started a new character on easy mode for now which should help getting in as much damage as possible so mind wiped companions wont be too much of a hassle with the above til a patch comes out unless am doing something wrong which i doubt.

Fantastic rpg and i love how different the story unfolds depending on what i say and do. I actually got a cool sword by saying things differently compared to my first playthrough.

  3. I couldn’t get into Baldur’s Gate 2 and as Dragon Age is being called the spiritual successor to it, I don’t think it’ll be a game for me…

Fallout 3 GOTY will be taking another part of my life, although I have finished the main quest of Broken Steel.

  4. I can’t wait to get to my local store tomorrow and get Dragon Age. I am desperate for a good new medieval RPG and this looks like it will keep me entertained for a very long time. From all I have heard it is incredible!

In the meantime I am playing old classics like Thief 2 and Laura Bow: The Dagger of Amon Ra, a real classic murder mystery.

  5. I have spent nights playing Dragon Age and I must say the work they did on the backstory of the world is just plain spectacular, every single character is interesting, from the peasants to the king.

Freed of the D&D franchise Bioware finally reached all its potential and it’s simply stunning.

And then there is Mass Effect 2 in january, Bioware is too good with us poor mortals…

  6. So far, Dragon Age seems to be the RPG of the year in my book.

Real consequences for what I do.

This is one of the first games that really touched me the same way Morrowind did in 2002.

  7. I’m still playing with Fallout GOTY – still haven’t finished all the add-on quests. I still regularly take forays into Morrowind & Oblivion, but I am eagerly awaiting the delivery of my copy of Dragon Age at the moment. It will be my first non-Bethesda game in years!

  8. Just rented MW2 and lovin every second of it. I can’t wait to get my hands on DAO. Other than those…..playing some NCAA College Football 10 and the new Super Mario Bros Wii.
