What we’re playing: Conquering the World Edition

As I sit in a Phoenix hotel room putting together this week’s “What We’re Playing” on my MacBook Pro, I’m a little envious of all the people below playing Civ 5 on their PCs. In addition to Firaxis’ latest hit, other popular PC picks include StarCraft 2, Recettear, and Minecraft.

There’s plenty of great console games to play, too. Halo: Reach continues to dominate our friends’ lists on LIVE, and sports fans have plenty to cheer for with FIFA 11, NHL 11, and NCAA Football 11.

Here’s this week’s rundown. Let us know what you’re playing.

Liam Wade: Halo: Reach and StarCraft 2 custom user-created maps.

Caedmon Somers: Civ V.

Mark Lampert: Minecraft.

Michael Lattanzia: Civilization 5. Civilization 5. And more Civilization 5. Who needs sleep?

Rob Bartholomew: Constant and unrelenting Recettear: An Item Shop’s Tale – no bloody thanks to the people who flagged it up in last week’s “WWP”…

Tom Lassanske: Civ 5.

Steve Cornett: Civ V and Starcraft 2.

Jordan Ziegler: Halo: Reach, NCAA Football 11, and NHL 11.

Sam Bernstein: Minecraft, Torchlight, and Attack from Mars (pinball).

Craig Lafferty: Halo: Reach and Civ 5.

Laffy Taylor: Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, Broken Sword, and Dominion.

Dan “Fancypants” Geske: “Watch the Football, Drink the Beer”

Nick Heller: Halo: Reach and FIFA.

Andy Chang: Katamari Forever and Heavy Rain.

Jeff Senita: StarCraft2.

Michael Onufrak: Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (I’m addicted again), Team Fortress 2, and New Vegas.

Patrick Coleman: Alien Swarm, Fallout 3 GOTY, and Borderlands.

Michael Musick: Halo: Reach, Mafia II and a reacquaintance with Rock Band (Holy Diver!).

Daryl Brigner: Minecraft, WoW, Recettear, and maybe Uncharted 2 again.

Greg Baverstock: F1 2010, Mafia II, Football Manager 2010, and Geared (iPod).

Andrew Poff: Halo: Reach and Worms 2: Armageddon.

Liz Cross: Ratchet & Clank.

Ricardo Gonzalez, Not a Clever Programmer: A potent mix of Civ V, Minecraft, and Star Trek Online. I call it… the Life Annihilator.

Peter Sokal: Halo: Reach and NHL 11.

Ricardo Graham: Halo: Reach, Final Fantasy XIV, Red Dead Redemption, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Pokémon Ruby, and the original Super Mario Brothers for Nintendo.

James Smith: Starcraft 2.

Frank Matzke: Mafia 2 and Spider-Man: Total Mayhem.

Scott Seidenwand: Settlers of Catan and Mafia II.

Aaron Mitschelen: Recettear, Civ 5, and Disgaea 3.

Cody Wharton (QA Tester): Nehrim “mod” for Oblivion (Re-install Oblivion and play this!), Red Dead Redemption, and Limbo.

Kurt Weaver: Spending my days in Fallout: New Vegas. Spending my nights in the G.E.C.K.

Matt Daniels: Civilization V and NCAA Football 11.

George Churchill: Starcraft 2 and FFXIV.

Paul Graber: Minecraft and maybe some Civ V.

Matt Grandstaff: Halo: Reach, NCAA Football 11, Shank, and Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time when I get home. Until then, I’ll try to complete The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass.

Bruce Nesmith: Darksiders.

Ryan Jenkins: Civilization 5.

Jason Bergman: Civ V and Halo: Reach.

Ashley Cheng: Halo Reach, NCAA Football 2011, and World Series of Poker iPhone.

Cory Dornbusch: Civ V and Star Craft 2.

Matt Killmon: Minecraft. OMG, Minecraft, all day, er’ry day. Also DOOM 3, for the ol’ nostalgia value. Still scary!

Alistair Hatch: Halo: Reach and maybe some Fallout 3 to tide me over until Fallout: New Vegas launches.

Sam Papke: Minecraft.

  4. Talk about a most fortunate turn of events. A kind act was repaid to me and i was able to get me mitts on CIVILIZATION V which in turn exposed me to another friend to help. An so the positive circle continues to flow. Truly someone knows how to inspire acts of goodness in me 😀

Now its off to war in..CIVILIZATION V!!!

  5. Currently trying to finish up Trine. Still playing Morrowind after starting in the summer, and I don’t think I’m going to finish exploring even half of it for months. Do you know how long it took me to cross from the east coast of Vvardenfell to the west coast? Weeks, guys. Weeks of playing on and off. There were just so many locations that kept sidetracking me. I hope I’ll be able to experience the same frustration/joy when playing TES V. :p

I also want to start Nehrim, it looks great. Chances are New Vegas will be released before I get around to it though. College does not leave a lot of time for gaming.

  6. starcraft 2 (when my computer feels like playing games :/), some reach though its been a bit frustrating witnh all the matchmaking games, ALOT of reading and staring with pure envy at the names of those people who work at bethesda and get to play new vegas allready >.<

  7. Cant believe i havent played a Bethesda rpg in three days since picking up CIVILIZATION V earlier this week. It is truly a sexual like obssession. I would say drug like but i dont do drugs Ya ha! ha! ha! Eh? Must remind self take break soon before raving mode takes hold.

Will try to tear myself away from CIV V to check out the new hefty patch for SUPREME COMMANDER 2 released yesterday and indulge in some FALLOUT 3 before the release of FALLOUT: NEW VEGAS later this month consumes me in its dream world euphoria.
