What we’re playing

While it’s been awhile since the last time we did one of these, I can assure that we not only love playing making games, we still use up our free time playing them. With a slew of awesome games now available (including Crysis 2, Total War: Shogun 2, and Marvel vs. Capcom 3), not to mention a new system (Nintendo 3DS), we’ve got plenty to keep us busy before and after work.

This week’s featured game is Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery EP (iPad) — currently being played by Harvey Smith (Arkane) and Michael Musick (id).

Below you’ll find all the games we’re playing this week that aren’t Portal 2 (it’s almost here!). Let us know the games you’re playing and what you think we’re missing out on.

Harvey Smith: I’m playing Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery EP (shown above), which is by far the best adventure game I’ve played in many years. It has a sense of wonder and mystery that most games lack, delivered in parts by the minimal storytelling, by the very analogue touch gameplay controls and even activation UI, and by the distinct (and unusual personality) of the setting and fiction.

Shinji Mikami: F1 2010.

Matt Hooper @id_Hooper: Crysis 2, Torchlight, Dead Space 2, and Bullet Storm.

Cory Dornbusch: Total War: Shogun 2 and Team Fortress 2.

Aaron Mitschelen: Rift. Also playing  Disgaea 4 in Japanese.

Mark Lampert: Unreal World.

Frank Matzke: Super Street Fighter IV (3DS) and  Crysis 2.Pete Hines: Enslaved, Top Spin 4, Homefront, and Battleheart.

  1. gluh, not much time for games lately, but i still squeeze in some solid Bad Company 2 domination now and again. oh, that sound? that was just me pulling my knife out, hush. and, i’ll admit, sometimes i do feel a little guilty when doing some USAS-12 shotgun whoring but… well, you just shouldn’t have let me get that close in the first place.

but… soon! Portal 2! maybe even some more New Vegas DLC…?

  2. FALLOUT 3 with a few texture mods to make things more grisly such as “Naughty Skill Book Covers, Billboards & Posters” author PerroLoco, based on some retextures done by Obsidianstag aswell as “What’s Your Brand v0.2 Cigarette texture megapack!” by CptJoker and “Better Booze v0.2” by CptJoker.

DAWN OF WAR 2 RETRIBUTION still got Chaos and the Orcs campaign to play. Currently on Eldar.

DRAGON AGE 2 cant stop playing with the new much more comfortable fluid combat system.

This could be one of you guys!? ]

And what pray tell is wrong here? Am i missing something in the picture? Are invisible bunnies laughing at me and at my innocence at the emotionally battered age of 45? Did the sinister mysterious purposely leave out part of the news article where the writer got arrested? Is this even an article? Hmm i will think deeply on this til muffins in the oven call my name…..

  5. Picked up ARENA and Daggerfall recently.
It’s so nice to relive those games, as now I actually understand what’s going on! (Was a little kid when I first played them…)

Apart from that, I play a little Minecraft, Empire: Total War and Civilizations V.
Most of my time goes into modding though – Like Matt Daniels, I’ve been working a lot of long hours!^^
