  1. Please bethesda, add trophies to oblivion!!
You already got achievements for X360!!

Many, many users expecting you to give us some trophies on PS3

    Listen your fans…..

  2. Bethesda, while I do appreciate the short response regarding lack of trophies and confirmation that this version is the exact same as the GotY edition, I can’t help but wonder what is really going on here. Why can’t a (presumably) small amount of time be taken to correct these things for PS3 owners? At the very least, patch in trophies (which I would guess would go quickly since they are already developed for 360) and while you’re at it, fix the vampire glitch (which the mod community has almost certainly already done for you). My favorite 400 hour character is stuck as a ghastly ghoul because of this! Oh, but wait. Even if I cure this retched disease, I only have about 50 more hours before the animation glitch kicks in. It’s a lose-lose situation.

And in regards to the add-on DLC, I’m starting to suspect there might be an NDA in place. It’s peculiar that that particular question still isn’t answered. Just speculation on my part, but I suppose it’s possible that Microsoft paid to prevent that content from ever reaching PS3 owners (similar to what they did for the NA PS3 version of Tales of Vesperia). If that’s the case, color me disappointed. No other hobby of mine has an industry that continues to play such ridiculous games with its customers.

Props to Troy for some A+ investigative work. I’m not surprised by it at all, and I’m glad to see some kind of action taken against this company.

In the meantime, PS3 owners, keep fighting the good fight!

  3. I see a lot of outrage about this but no direct Q & A, so I will ask.

Will we ever see the rest of the DLC NOT included in this pack on a stand alone disc?
    If yes, When?
If no, Why? Obviously there is a market for it.

Thank you for your time and making the best games.

  4. Well Bethesda,

It appears that a couple of contributors to your esteemed blog are having difficulty submitting post. Are you having technical difficulties? Have we struck a nerve? If history serves as any example, are you making preparations to shut down this illustrious thread we so love? Do tell.

  6. Where are these details on the other regions’ versions? Or are you going by Valve time, but without the whole “listening to fans” aspect?

  7. @gstaff,
It is much appreciated that you have kindly published so many posts somehow not appearing in the last few days. At your discretion, you can delete two double postings of mine; freedom rider wrote on June 26th, 2011 and Guess Who wrote on June 29th, 2011. Thank you.

  8. will this 5th anniversary edition be available on the PS3 system and if so will it have the downloads that it had on xbox such as the observatory. congrats to bethesda ES oblivion was the most amazing game i ever played it inspired me to start creating my own game im still in the developement of the story but one day hope to make it. I cant wait for Skyrim to be released and i can only expect the perfect gameplay and story of the previous games.

  9. OK, so it’s been a few days (all others were responded to the same day) and still no answer to my above question. I guess you’re just not going to answer so I will just add my grievances to the growing list.

After 4 years is the Oblivion plug-ins being down-load only really that big of a money maker? Is there some secret agreement with Microsoft or Xbox? You can’t make a $.50 cent disc to sell for $30.00 dollars?

There are several people that either do not have the internet or just really dislike the idea of the expansions being download-only, and prefer to have media in hand.

Is this wrong of us, the public to have options or must we bend to the will of those that have already made billons off us because you crack your whip and say as a whiney child “no we want it our way”.

As Armand Christophe says in game “Are you confused?”
We are willing to give you money yet you don’t want to take it. ??????????????

Thank you for your time and making some of the best games ever.

PS: if you’re going to do the same to Fallout New Vegas (keeping it as download only) please let me know so I don’t have to look forward to that as well

  10. Got my hands on a copy of GotY edition. You guys have got to fix up some of these glitches for 5th anniversary edition! I had been playing for 10-15 minutes and I was falling through floors and experiencing odd things in the environment. The way Oblivion is, we like to spend a lot of time on one character and since there is so much to do it sucks when half the game is spent trying to get around glitches. Got to be the arch mage, and when I went into the room with Raminus Polis, there’s just doors and a black abyss, of which me and all the other NPCs fall to our deaths. =[ also living in fear of the vampire glitch and animation glitch, I know I will inevitably run into them by the time I’ve played through most of the game.

  11. I just pre-ordered this game from Gamestop today, they told me that it comes with 5 downloads that were released with Oblivion pre-orders when Oblivion was first released. According to them the 5 downloads have not been available since, so unless you pre-ordered the game when it first came out this seems like a decent deal.

But I can’t find anything about this anywhere else. I’m going by what my local gamestop told me.

  12. Since when has it become hard to find new copies of Oblivion GOTY edition? I see it all the time in stores and online for a much cheaper price. Sure the game is for for a few days, then again, who would want a game that is constantly freezing and breaking your system? Buyers beware this game freezes a lot so you have to restart constantly, and if you restart too many times it will break your system (PS3 and 360). I highly don’t recommend this game unless you are in for some serious frustration.

  13. Like someone else said…… Will I ever be able to play all the plug-ins/ DLC on Ps3? A straight, honest answer would be appreciated.

  14. @ Andrew

Unfortunately I don’t think they are going to fix it. We all know that with the launch of the 5th anniversary edition being a week and a half away, that all of these copies are already produced and sitting in a warehouse somewhere awaiting shipment.

It’s too bad if you ask me.

  15. Seriously? FOUR damn years of you guys keeping that dlc from ps3 owners and you guys STILL won’t throw us a bone? I don’t understand why you guys have such loyal fans when you do stuff like this. I wonder if you are going to pull the same crap with Skyrim. Until PS3 owners are treated equally I’m not picking either game up.

  16. Awesome, great that Bethesda is failing yet again when given the time to rectify a situation. I suppose they simply don’t care about the ps3 fanbase.

The guys reading this are just like “hey guys you aren’t like xbox, we don’t have the time to give you trophies and dlc that xbox has had for years”.

  17. No trophies. No dlc beyond what is already available in the goty edition.
Too bad. It’s a disappointment that Bethesda has missed another opportunity to give ps3 owners dlc that has been available to Xbox360 and pc owners for years. I’m also not suprised that once again there is no official reason why ps3 owners are excluded. Just once, I would like an actual representative of Bethesda to man up and say in plain terms what the actual problem with the ps3 is. My money is just as good as someone who owns an Xbox360 or a pc, and I expect to be treated better than a second-class citizen when I spend it on a product from their company. If we ps3 owners are once again excluded with Skyrim content, it will be the last time I spend my money on anything produced by Bethesda.

  18. Why are there no trophies?
    Just use the XBOX achievements.

Can you ask the dev team if they would be interested in patching them in? There is obviously a high demand for them.

  19. I’m having trouble understanding, what’s the difference between this and the GOTY Edition? If there isn’t a difference what’s the point? I can’t see many people buying this edition of Oblivion if all it offers is the same game that we can already go out and buy. But, if it had included trophies for the PS3 version every single fan of the series would have run out and bought a copy no questions asked. Bad move for Bethesda, never underestimate the number of trophy whores on Playstation.

  20. This must have more to it! I wan’t a few more things to the game!! Come on give us all a little suprise :P???

  21. And btw Marius there provinces (Yeah i thought they where countrys two till i herd them say provinces in the game). But makes a little sence since a country isnt realy just a few miles long and has no provinces so but be BUT! it would be nice to see a larger consianent that holds 3 or so other countrys that have 16 provinces :D?

  22. This is not REALLLY what i would expect the 5th aniversary would have T-T And yeah stirk would be a kewl DLC xD

  23. They should make a few mods.
-Bring back Sutch (City that was going to be in original game).
-Put in Stirk (On most of the maps, Stirk is a part of Cyrodiil).
-Add features from Morrowind (Real Fatigue, Mini Map, Crossbows, Spears).

If they added these into it I WOULD buy it.

  24. I would happily buy this again if you included trophies for the ps3. Many other studios have retrospectivly patched trophies into old games.

I don’t see why 1 or 2 junior programmera can’t do this. The financial benefits would make it worthwhile.

  25. I thought there was a law against selling a product known to be defective? How can Bethesda get away with re-releasing Oblivion with all of the bugs?
It’s too bad that Bethedsa isn’t taking care of their customer base. Really too bad.
I was all excited about buying Skyrim, but then I remembered how buggy Oblivion was on the PS3 and I’m starting to have second thoughts about my considered purchase.

    Fallout 3, Oblivion GOTY, Fallout New Vegas;
These are games that were so good, yet so bad on the PS3 due to all of the bugs, crashes, glitches, etc.
Not to mention it seems that PS3 owners are an afterthought to this company. It’s been five years and I still can’t play with my high level character on Oblivion GOTY due to the game freezing and requiring a re-start after two minutes. I had to spend an additional $15 to rent a non-GOTY version from a Blockbuster video just to fix the vampire glitch. Thanks for that…
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times…Well, let’s just say there probably won’t be a fourth unless they actually fix Oblivion and beta test Skyrim before it is released.

  26. if a anniversary edition comes to europe i’m going to get it even though i have the GOTY edition i just want to keep it as a collectible

  27. Gah, I just preordered this today assuming that they patched in trophies. Lame. I’m going to go back tomorrow and put the money on Dark Souls or Ico/SotC collection.

  28. It’s starting to sound like I’m the only person in the world who has never had a problem with Oblivion. I had the GOTY edition until I heard about the 5th anniversary one. I traded it in and it practically paid for 5th anniversary.

Since I’ve first bought GOTY for my 360 I’ve played it without incident. The game has never froze and I’ve never had an issue where I’ve had to have my system fixed.

Either I’m the luckiest person on earth, or there are a lot of whiners out there.

  29. I’m sorry to hear there isn’t going to be a patch released for trophy support Bethesda, I already own the GOTY for PS3 and have the original release for 360, and I was planning to pick up this version to continue to support you guys since I’m local to you. But without a trophy patch I won’t even touch this D; So I’ll have to pass on it. However if you at all possible, I wouldn’t mind programming a trophy patch for this game, might make PS3 owners happier. But don’t worry, I loved Wet, Hunted, Fall Out 3 and Vegas, Brink and pretty much all Bethesdasoft games. I would love to assist you in creating a trophy patch if it gets you more support for a purchase. 🙂

  30. All us PS3 owners can hope for is a patch that allows trophy support
Until then, I will not be buying this game

Thank you to everyone for being vocal about the well-known deficiencies
More and more, this re-release is looking like last grab at more money

Its a shame they dont listen to us customers

  31. What are you guys talking about will there be trophies for ps3 version go buy the regular or collectors edition and there is already trophies come on now..

  32. Well I just bought my PS3 and have played oblivion on xbox 360 and was trying to change over due to the fact of me moving out of my house with him. After reading about the bugs and no extra dlc content. I may as well just forget oblivion and come over to my brothers house if it avoid the hassle of bugs. I would love to have this game but for it to be cheaper on steam and these problems. I’m still considering buying it so i could relive my experience but I may just wait and buy another game that interest me.

  33. Really disappointed about this, Beth. Hopefully you guys will come to your senses and at least release the plug-ins and fixes as DLC or even a free patch at this point. As it stands, there is really no point in buying this.

  34. hey i have a question its not that much about this edition but about shivering isles… i am a ps3 gamer and have oblivion(std ed.) an i love it but i want SI and i was wondering could i use a GOTY disc to install SI and continue to use my non-GOTY disc and still be able to use SI?? or do I need to own a GOTY disc or a SI retail disc to play it??

P.D.: I am not in the U.S., I reside in Mexico and doubt that I can get my hands on a SI retail disc.

I will thank anyone that actually may help me with this “issue”.

  35. There is a symble on the right side of my location bar in Oblivian. It looks like a half moon with an arrow
pointing up and it is radiating to the left. If anyone knows what this is will the please email me and tell
me what it is and how I can stop it. I already ended up in Shimmering Isles and got a horse to get to the town of Bravil. I would like a map of Bravil.

  36. Yeah I had this pre ordered at my local GameStop until I found out that trophies were not included on the PS3! And if Bethesda isn’t willing to listen to it’s loyal customers on any of our complaints we should all contact the Better Business Bureau!

    @Troy L. Barner:
I appreciate all the research you’ve done and for that I’m printing out all things you’ve posted and handing out flyers at my local GameStop. To make sure people who are buying/pre ordering Bethesda games know who their getting into bed with!

  37. Being a true fan of the Elder Scrolls, I’ve already preordered the 5th Anniversary Edition even though I already have Game of the Year edition. What’s $20 anyway? I love The Elder Scrolls!!!!!!!!

  38. I dont understand why you would not include trophies with the ps3 version. I know you guys don’t like the ps3 as much as the 360 because it is harder to develop for. but that is also because it came out second and you werent forced to get used to it. PS3 owners are 1/3 of your game market along with xbox and pc, so why cant you take the time to include all the features for everybody. The DLC’s would be a nice inclusion, especially with the PS3 version. I’ve been a fan of your games since morrowind through to fallout new vegas but oblivion was my favourite of your games and my favourite game of all time and I would have liked to pick it up and play again with new content. I will still buy Skyrim and probably play the heck out of it and it will be great just as all your games are, but I really wish you had included more of what fans wanted in this package. All in all your a great game company, but please do more about the support for all consoles and bug patches with skyrim.

  39. Wow, some people are really obsessed. Yes, it has been acknowledged for quite some time that Oblivion – and all Bethesda games for that matter – are buggy, and the response to these bugs and complaints is less than ideal. But come on, people.
I, for one, have actually not had too many problems with Oblivion, but I understand if others have had some bad experiences, and I sympathize with your grievances. But you have to move on. It’s a video game. Yes, you may have spent some hard earned money on a product that was defective in your experience. But that’s life; everything will not turn out your way. Comparing it to the likes of the recent problem with Toyota cars is absolutely insane and shows a real lack of rationalization. With the break problem with Toyota cars, lives were on the line, and less importantly, those were investments of tens of thousands of dollars that were defective. You dropped $60 on something that might have frustrated you. And you’re comparing it to a problem that has deathly consequences. You should be ashamed.
Now you can have animosity to a product and the company that made that product, but visiting this page and posting multiple times about your problems with it is taking it too far. We get that you will not be purchasing this newer product and you have a problem with how they are not updating it the way you would like. But as I’ve said before: move on; get over it; suck it up; get a life.
The bottom line is: you shouldn’t be focusing so much on something so small.

  40. well it’s out in usa today but cannot wait until it’s also released here in uk also!hopefully very soon 😉

  41. Hmmmm should i sell my oblivion for this cus u get a skyrim guide 10 dollars off map making of metal case and all the dlc which i already have and beat man many times? i think yes

  42. Went too Gamestop today to FINALLY get me Oblivion for my PS3, $30 is a STEAL! but when i checked if it had trophie support to my surprise!!!! it did not!!!! gave the game back too the clerk and said no ty, when we get the same treatment as the SHITbox then maybe u can have my money.

  43. I just went to gamestop and bought a copy for me and my friend. Double checked online real quick to see if it was true that trophies had finally been added to find out it’s false. I’m a hardcore elder scrolls fan, own all dlc on xbox and a pc version. Thought the trophies being added would make me get this and add to the collection. Now I am about to go back to gamestop to return both copies for me and my friend. It adds so much replay value to do this I don’t understand. Just make an update Bethesda I’m sure it can’t be too hard 🙁 I don’t even care about the other dlc that’s on xbox just want trophies added and it looks like were all in agreement on here. I’ll go re-buy this if you add trophy support, but until then i’ll spend my money elsewhere which is very saddening to me. I was really looking forward to enter Cyrodiil again getting rewarded for my actions all over again :'( Please make it happen.
