QuakeCon Keynote & Presentation news

This morning we’re pleased to announce that QuakeCon, the ultimate video game festival, will kick off on Thursday, August 4th 2011. As tradition goes, id’s co-founder and technical director, John Carmack, will kick things off with his keynote address.

In addition to the keynote and other special events (more on that soon), this year’s event will give you a chance to see some great presentations on our upcoming titles, including Todd Howard’s first public presentation of Skyrim!! QuakeCon will also see the first public demo of Prey 2, which will be demoed by Chris Rhinehart, Project Lead at Human Head Studios. And in addition to being able to play RAGE on the show floor, attendees will be able to check out a special presentation of the award-winning shooter given by Matt Hooper, the game’s Design Director.

QuakeCon 2011 will take place at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, TX. The event remains FREE to general admission and BYOC attendees thanks to the support of id and Bethesda Softworks, as well as the QuakeCon volunteer staff and the 2011 event sponsors and exhibitors. Doors to the QuakeCon BYOC will open on Thursday, August 4th at 9:00am CST and will remain open through 12:00pm CST on Sunday, August 7th.

  1. Please please please! Record Carmack’s keynote + Q&A and make then available for download to all us that don’t live in the US, but still admire the genius.

Last year his rocket talk, keynote and Q&A were recorded, streamed live, but never made it for download.

It would greatly be appreciated if these gems could be downloaded as well =)

  2. I second the request for a downloadable version of Carmack’s keynote.

Myself and others was quite disappointed that this was not available for his 2010 address, since it had been available several years prior. Live streaming is all well and good, but for international fans (and those wanting copies for posterity) a download link is an absolute must. Please provide one this time around, thank you.

  3. Definitely expect something new to be annnounced, I mean Zenimax has 7 studios under its belt. Maybe MachineGames, or maybe the MMO from ZeniMax Online since there has been word from that department and they’re around 4 years old. Anyway looks like the best QuakeCon yet :D.

  4. Skyrim! 😀
Sadly, I can’t go to Texas. I’m busy in FL with college.
Will this be broadcasted live on the internet like E3 was?
If not, will it be taped?

  5. Sadly the Skyrim presentation is going to be a “no film zone”. But people tend to get footage either way so we’ll see.
