Lonesome Road coming September 20th; Courier’s Stash and Gun Runners’ Arsenal one week later (Updated)

The Courier’s journey ends this September.

We’re excited to share that Lonesome Road, the fourth add-on pack for Fallout: New Vegas, will be available for download on Xbox LIVE, PlayStation Network and Steam on September 20th.

In Lonesome Road you are contacted by the original Courier Six, a man by the name of Ulysses who refused to deliver the Platinum Chip at the start of Fallout: New Vegas. Ulysses promises the answer as to why he didn’t take the job, but only if you make one last journey into the hurricane-swept canyons of the Divide, a landscape torn apart by earthquakes and violent storms. It’s up to you whether you take the job or not.

But wait! There’s more!!

Today we’re also announcing two additional DLC packs, Courier’s Stash and Gun Runners’ Arsenal, which will be available for download one week later on September 27th.

Courier’s Stash (Xbox LIVE for 160 Microsoft points, PlayStation Network and Steam for $1.99) gives players immediate access to four content bundles previously available only through pre-ordering Fallout: New Vegas. The Caravan Pack, Classic Pack, Mercenary Pack and Tribal Pack each offer unique weapons, apparel and aid advantages that will help you throughout your journey.

Gun Runners’ Arsenal (Xbox LIVE for 320 Microsoft points, PlayStation Network and Steam for $3.99) increases the range of unique weapons, weapon mods, ammo types and recipes waiting to be uncovered in the vast Mojave Wasteland.

Among the unqiue weapons added are the Bozar, an all-powerful 5.56mm Light Machine Gun, the Smitty Special, an overwhelming variant of the Plasma Caster, the MFC Cluster mine, the Esther, a unique Mini Nuke Launcher, and the ridiculous Nuka Breaker – a new melee weapon made from a Nuka-Cola neon sign. In total Gun Runners’ Arsenal adds 27 new weapons, 40 new weapon modifications for existing weapons, 18 new new recipes, and 29 new ammo types — including the 12 Ga. Dragon’s Breath, Hive Missiles, and 25mm/40mm Plasma Grenades. Finally, Gun Runners’ Arsenal also adds more than 20 all-new challenges to the Mojave Wasteland.

  1. Can’t wait for Lonesome Road, but it comes out the same day as Gears so I don’t know when I’ll find time to play it… 🙁

  2. When you say: “The Courier’s journey ends this September.”, does that mean that Lonesome Road is the last DLC (and those two micro-DLC’s)? If it is: aww. I’m always hoping for more! 🙂

  3. The last one? :[ That makes me sad :[ Not that I’ve really played any of the DLC due to a lack of time ^_^’ But I’ll get around to it soon! Look forward to the added content packs, too!

  4. Looking forward to this! All the other DLC packs for NV were awesome and I am confident Lonesome Road will be a great wrap up to the story!

And hey, by that time we only have 52 days until Skyrim!!!!

  5. Kinda pissed about the pre-order stuff. But, more annoyed with the fact that they are letting the New-Vegas story die so fast. Was hoping for at least one or two more expansions like F3 had.

      • Agreed. New Vegas has more of a classic Fallout feel to it, and it’s a shame that only the PC users will get more out of the game after Sept. 20th. However, it is kinda cool that they are offering all four pre order packs to everyone now. And the gun runner’s arsenal also seems cool, though the cost of $4 is dependant on just how much they exapnd the weaponry of FNV.

I mean, I know it’s not going to be just the 4 weapons pictured in the slideshow, but it has to be a little more than a handful of new toys. PErhaps some new armors or clothes as well?

  6. Thanks for the info Matt.

Looking forward to finally meeting Ulysses.

Also, I can’t wait to see what’s in the “Gun Runners’ Arsenal”

On another note, I find it pretty funny when people say they are Fallout® fans, and they don’t remember how many DLCs Fallout® 3 had..

    Fallout®: New Vegas™ > Fallout® 3

    Keep up the Good work!!

    • Well and that’s where you’re wrong.
Fallout 3 had 5 DLCs and Fallout New Vegas is gonna have only 4 DLCs, weapon pack isn’t really a DLC, is it… 😉

    • Sorry to burst your bubble , but atleast in FA3 you could keep on playing the game with the DLC completed . Not like in New Vegas where you have to play the DLC first before “finishing” the game (and how very very easy it is for a lvl45 to kick “The Beast of the East” ‘s ass …..)

      • Well sorry to “Burst your bubble”, But on PC, You can mod the Ending to be Open. As for killing the “Beast of the East” easily, Try playing on Very Hard/Hardcore..

Every Great Story has an Ending.

        • Uhm…Lvl 18 on Hardcore Normal…story completed. Legate wasnt the easiest but I had more trouble with viper groups 😛 I am personally Stoked for LR and GRA!

  7. Good to hear the DLC will be out soon. And I will sadly bow to the inevitability to the “end” of the New Vegas saga.

    Which brings us to…

When is the next Fallout “sequel” (hate that term) tentatively coming out? Have been a near-exclusive Fallout player since the first release many years ago, and don’t know if I have many gaming years left in me! 😉 Mods are a good quick “fix”, but lack the professionalism in many cases (typos, grammar, bugs, etc.).

In any case, thanks! It’s been one hell of a great ride!

  8. So excited for this. Only bad thing is that it comes out on the same day as Gears3 so me and my husband will be fighting for the TV.

  9. @ SinisterCheese

Fallout 3 did have more large expansions than New Vegas (that’s not counting the mini ones for New Vegas), New Vegas’s were just better

  10. Highly disappointing. A two month delay (and a broken promise from Jason Bergman) mean that I can’t play this until I get back from uni, which starts the week Lonesome Road is released. And all for what? An items pack DLC that invalidates the one bonus that those fans who bothered to preorder got, and another items pack DLC released a week after Lonesome Road, full of items that could have easily been included in Lonesome Road, or any of the preceding DLC’s, for that matter.

After paying £40 to beta test New Vegas for a year, I’m saddened that this is the thanks that the fans get from Bethesda. I was really looking forward to Lonesome Road, but Bethesda showing that they haven’t learned their lesson from horse armour has left a sour taste in my mouth.

I’m sick of watching publishers bullying developers and Microsoft bullying publishers. I’ve invested enough time and energy into New Vegas that I’ll buy this, but on future Fallout titles I think I’ll wait for the GOTY edition, if I bother at all.

  11. This Dlc will decide once and for all whether NV or 3 is better.

The way i see it FO3 had 2 fantastic expansions, and NV has one so far. So as far as im concerned if this expansion even nearly equals OWB then FNV is a success 😀

      • I know my Lore.. I read uesp.net daily..

I simply helped Gstaff (Matt) by pointing out that he put Dwemer on the Poll, when it’s supposed to be Dunmer.

He already fixed it like 10 minutes after I posted that comment.

      • Actually Dracosphinx, Summerset Isle is inhabited by the Altmer (called “High Elves” by Imperials), of whom magic is said to flow through their very veins. While the Sload are believed to be the first inhabitants of the Isles, it is believed to be the first province occupied by the Aldmer.

The Dwemer (pronounced Dwee-Mer) were a fabled lost race of Mer hailing from Dwemereth, the region that is now Morrowind. Their ruins and artifacts are scattered across Tamriel, specifically within Hammerfell (mainly in the mountains of Stros M’Kai), High Rock, and Morrowind. Meric races use the term “Dwemer,” which translates to “deep,” “deep-counseled,” or “secretive” people. They are alternatively known as Dwarves, a term used by Imperials and possibly created by the giants, the Ehlnofey of the Velothi Mountains. They formed free-thinking, yet reclusive elven clans devoted to the secrets of science, engineering, and the arcane.

  12. Well happy looking forward 2 the 20th hope it realeases on the same day in europe this time not like with OWBs a day later on ps3.. Will be getting the arsenal package too, Any more info you can give on whats in that package?

  13. I feel sorry for the people on ebay that paid those ridiculous prices ($20 and up) for just one pre order pack. Oh well,I’m gonna get them all for $2.Skeet,skeet,skeet.

  14. The New Vegas dlcs so far have been incredible and amazingly original. The fact that Lonesome Road will be the last is making me sad not because i will not be able to build the game any longer, but because I’m aware that any further expansion would ruin the story.

On another note, people comparing this game to Fo3 have missed the whole point. The two are completely different games, with separate storylines. Both perfect in their own way.

Hopefully we’ll be seeing more of this creative team.

    • Well said. Why must the 2 be compared? I equally enjoy them both. I have yet to spend as many hours on as many playthroughs as I did in Fo3 but I was playing Fo3 from release till FNV lol. So I agree both perfect in their own way! Kudos

  15. I have been enjoying the DLCs so far, and am about ready to restart FONV to do things differently, like playing in Hardcore Mode. If you like to play Story DLCs, you could take a look at some very good Mods for FONV at:

Of course you will have to have your game on a computer not just a console. Mr. K

  16. Will there be any new challenges included with the Gun Runner’s Arsenal? Or achievements for that matter?

I’m happy to hear that there are 27 new weapons, but I hope most are guns. The DLCs so far have been a little unarmed and melee heavy. Then again there are new weapon mods for previously existing guns and new recipes, so who knows how many changes we’ll get 🙂

    • I agree. I found FoNV to be packed to the core with Melee or unarmed. Any full on unarmed/Melee character could easily overpower any gun set character by 200%. All the best perks related to Melee or Unarmed. Just glad to see my old fallout guns may be making a come back!

  17. I am at eurogamer expo that week and am travelling on the 21st so will have 1 day to play it and will then have to wait till I get back

  18. So are those weapon packs the “exciting new annoucements”? If so, a little disappointed. Wish LR release was earlier.. Hate it when things get released at the near end of the month.

  19. Well Dead Money was so bad I nearly quit playing New Vegas altogether, but then Old World Blues made up for it so this is looking good, and if I can have a katana and possibly a bozar you will make me the happiest Fall Out Nerd alive. I spent many happy hours with a badge, bozar and Luger killing ‘bad’ guys in FO2

    • Definitely not. Broken Steel and The Pitt were good, but that’s pretty much it. Operation Anchorage was highly bugged, long, boring and ultra-linear, I never played it for anything else than the rewards. Point Lookout was flat, uninteresting, and enemies were buffed to compensate the fact that they simply sucked. As for Mothership Zeta, it was flat, linear and with crappy foes at the same time.

  20. Soooo loocking forward to playing this DLC 😀

Soooo… will this be the last Fallout Stuff from you guys for the next five or ten years, or is there some more incoming in the “forseable future”? =(

  21. I am not so sure about the dlcs it would be nice for them to add in new weapons personally I hope for the browning fifty cal but I’d much rather see a flamer pistol or guass pistol or gauss minigun I.E. Energy weapons that don’t suck! We have more than enough guns, I am well aware of mods that add classic fallout weapons but I would love to see more “love” given to the energy weapon lovers, hopefully we’ll see 1/2 energy weapons added at some point in the dlc and I hope the signature weapon of the divide will be awesome because the achievement picture looks it.

  22. IMO Courier’s Stash and Gun Runners’ Arsenal should’ve been available on the 1st OR at least on the 2nd DLC add on, because that way I could’ve actually use the weaponry at earlier stages of the game… I’ll just download the LR dlc and enjoy the last few weeks of Fallout:NV and get ready for SKYRIM!

  23. I really want LR but I don’t think i’ll be getting the pre-order packs unless i have spare points. If you’d released them sooner I would have definetly bought, but now I’m just waiting for LR to finish ;D

  24. While I won’t likely be getting the mini pakcs, and I hate micro transactions generally, I think you are doing right by allowing everyone to get these packs. Pre Order Bonuses are crap and punish the games fans, at least now they can get the full experience.

  25. hey bethesda, are u doing a game of the year edition cos im getting fallout for the pc soon? i have it on 360 and i would highly prefer buying a game of the year disc to downloading the dlc’s from anywhere else. 🙂

  26. These mini-packs are kind of BS. I would have bought them if they came out earlier, but I already have several maxed out characters and the story line is a few dozen combats from being complete. These should have been released on day one (or just included with the game). Way to extort your true fans.

  27. i’m with @Sinless…please tell us if there’s gonna be some kind of package we can buy on disc that will have the game + all the DLC, like a GOTY or something.

  28. Item packs, eh? They seem interesting, though anyone with a GECK and a copy of Nifskope can cobble together the preorder DLC with no problem.

Still, they’re a good idea for console owners, and I’m a little tempted by the possibility of owning the Classic Pack myself (via Courier’s Stash), even though I’ve already made my own armored Vault 13 jumpsuit. 😉
