Watch the debut trailer for Dishonored

Watch the all-new debut trailer for Dishonored, our upcoming 2012 release from Arkane Studios.

Dishonored casts you as a supernatural assassin driven by revenge. You are the once-trusted bodyguard of the beloved Empress. Framed for her murder, you become an infamous assassin, known only by the disturbing mask that has become your calling card. In a time of uncertainty, when the city is being besieged by plague and ruled by an oppressive government armed with strange technologies, dark forces conspire to bestow upon you abilities beyond those of any common man.

In Dishonored, creatively eliminate your targets with the flexible combat system as you combine the numerous supernatural abilities, weapons and unusual gadgets at your disposal. Pursue your enemies under the cover of darkness or ruthlessly attack them head on with weapons drawn. The outcome of each mission plays out based on the choices you make.

    • Just look at the video from G4, someone makes a brief mission to kill someone, to pick up a sword and everybody “collecting” junk. Recently i saw a developer of something about starwars call the consumer “crying baby”. I think one thing is fact, we are no longer in the early 90s, with no internet, when tools for code and art were a rarity, today the public understands very well, have schools for game development. The real geniuses inside the game industry today, are the marketing guys.

  1. Cheap bioshock infinite rip-off. You just cant seem to focus on one game and make it playable for a while can you bethesda.

  2. Looks like most of the fans got dissapointed that this isnt skyrim news. But well the game looks great but.. I prefer elder scrolls ๐Ÿ™
Why do you guys want us to expect something it isnt? Well its our own fault to think its skyrim and then we got dissapointed.

  3. Ah stop the wineing, Skyrim DLC will come ๐Ÿ˜› . This trailer looks awesome, cant wait to see more gameplay on Dishonored!

    • Agreed. Stop whining. Your next round of soulless, mindless, “Radiant” fetch quests will be along shortly. Until then, create a new cosmetic skin and play some more of the mindless, soulless fetching you already have.

  4. I am vengeance. For the Empress!!!

Looks like i’ve got something to look forward to later this year. Thanks for the fabulous trailer.

    • I am just not into the Bioshock type of game, i knew it wasent skyrim, but i was expecting some sort of Elder Scrolls MMO announcement (not that i like MMOs), anyway i hope bethesda next Skyrim patch concentrates on the CK, we really need to get rid of a ton of issues with the Modding Tools.

      • Skyrim’s Multi Platform too, but that doesn’t change the fact that Xbox gets exclusive content like voice commands.

        • Easy now. We have had voice commands on PC for months. Let the console boxes beta test the DLC. They can work out the (inevitable) bugs for us, and we can get patched versions. Since buying anything from Bethesda on day 1 is tantamount to purchasing a Beta version of software, I am all for XBOX early release for DLC. Let someone else test it, this time.

  5. Was hopping it was Skyrim DLC. However the story and graphics do look nice on this game. I’m just don’t like the shape of guards bodys ><. Hope there is a demo out for this game at some point because it might be a game I'd buy.

  6. Trailer looks fantastic, and the game sounds like it could be really fun. Not Skyrim news, but hey, not everything has to be Skyrim and (unlike far too many other people I’ve seen commenting on this) I’m not disappointed.

  7. The statement they made said big surprizes for rage and skyrim this had nothing to do with ether game. As fans i think we have waited long enough for some type of DLC news being plagued with bug’s haveing to restart several times but still loveing the game we diserve more from you bethesda we def do

  8. Is very similar to the new Bioshock, the style of the characters and so on. Possibly the same engine? this time is better avoid magazines and game programs on TV/web, with that bunch of zombies who agree with everything “triple-A” with no deep critics. Please Bethesda, TEST this product until you reach the edge of madness. Rage and Skyrim are the two moments in my life, when the marketing shows the danger about hype and mass midia. Terrible products, lots of bad things about instability, lost data.. please, more tests!

  9. Whoa there, Chaps. You’re all really that upset about it not being Skyrim? This looks amazing! And Skyrim is brilliant, I take it you haven’t tried many of the mods on the Toolkit yet? I suggest you do. But this… This is just fantastic

  10. I think is interesting but I hope that the next project of Arkane studios will be Dark Messiah II …

    Is that Disonhored an openworld?

    what engine does it use?

    Will it be moddable?

  11. Hair in game is not as good, or even a graphic so photorealistic. With the multiplataform factor, is all made like instant noodles, different pack, but the same taste. few images of the in-gane are on site –
i hope a polished gameplay with multiplayer.

    • Graphics? Like these? On a game released on the console toys? not going to happen. You might not like it, folks, but the aging consoles are the single factor holding back better graphics in games. Sorry, but the hardware just isn’t anywhere near PC standards. Worse yet, the rumored specs for the new generation of boxes isn’t on par with what my PC runs now. And the new boxes aren’t even out yet. Sometime around 2014 I suspect consoles will be able to run the sorts of graphics PC could handle circa 2005.

  12. This looks pretty damned awesome – A new IP, dark moody steam-punky setting, possible stealth gameplay… what’s not to like? Loved the tagline “Revenge Solves Everything”

  13. You know how many squeals you would have got if the guy talking turned out to be a Thalmor agent? A lot more reaction than what this video is receiving. ._.’

    • Here here. Skipping Skyrim DLC, but cannot wait for this. Looks new and different and somewhat original. In other words, completely unlike Skyrim.

  14. This game…my most anticipated one in 2012.

I absolutely cannot wait and I hope it sells millions so Arkane can continue making these amazing immersive sim games.

  15. I’m quite disappointed in some of my fellow commenters. I’m looking forward to Skyrim DLC too, but
    1) Bethesda never hinted this was Skyrim DLC
    2) The image didn’t look anything like Skyrim
    3) The self-obsessed whining about not getting what you wanted is pathetic. It’s like at a concert when you boo the next act simply for not being the one beforehand.

    • DLC = more fixes. Honestly, after seeing the game remain unresolved 2x here, i do not care about DLC = new adventure.
The many hours of play, the users playing 100 hours… in large part are because we losing savegames, needing reinstall and getting pissed after 6 months!

  16. pete hines even said on twitter to a guy that said it was skyrim dlc pic. pete hines posted you do know we make other games than skyrim with a smile face.
so i guess the big news for skyrim for april is just the kinect ๐Ÿ™

  17. My Doom 4 offers more immersion! lets put the beginning of the story here, because I am your friend.
    – You’re a Marine, one day a liquid called Imulsion starts to rain all over the planet earth, coming from Mars, causing hell on earth! all enemies are back: Miami Imp, Cacofrog, Lost (the team walks in doubt whether to use Jack or Loki) and much more to come using 1000 blurays, because bigger is better right? I will now launch a rocket and create a new sun, i will defeat GOD!

  18. Awesome trailer; you guys put a lot of work into it. Having this bundled somehow with Bioshock 2 would be fantastic sense there’s that similar steam-punk dystopia theme, maybe as a steam special offer? Imagine if a new half life game was coming out around the same time, it would be crazy.

  19. I personally think this looks like a great game. Somewhat disappointed that it wasn’t Skyrim, but nonetheless it looks like a game I might enjoy because I definitely enjoyed Assassins Creed series and it have interesting mechanics. Can’t wait.

  20. Why are people bitching about it not being Skyrim II ? This game looks very promising. You people are probably the type that are complaining about MW3 being the same as MW2 ect.

  21. Looks interesting. As far as assassin games go, it looks a million times better than Assassin’s Creed.

I don’t know if it’ll necessarily be a day 1 buy for me, since I’ve noticed there seems to be a trend of Bethesda/Zenimax rushing their 3rd party developers, and often the game suffers as a result.

Once I see some gameplay, I might be convinced, however.

  22. Sorry guys, Bethesda games are strictly bargain-bin purchases in my book after the whole Skyrim middle-finger situation. If you’re going to release half-finished games and leave them broken for 6 months+ then I’m not going to buy them. Simple. I’m aware that a different studio developed it, but the same applied to RAGE and that was a heap of tripe as well. Take responsibility for your publications and show your customers some respect for once.

    • Agreed. There is also the little matter of customers like myself, who purchased Rage in large part due to the promise of mods and a toolkit. Which we never got. Between this and mediocrity of Skyrim, I am no longer a Bethesda customer.

  23. I’m glad Bethesda publishing is trying to revive the immerse sim market with Dishonored and Prey 2(Prey 2 is still on the map…right?)

Anyway I just wanted to say that to keep your chin up, all these negative comments are coming from die-hard RPG fans, and these games are going to attract a new audience that isn’t too familiar with Bethesda published titles.

But if it means anything I’m a huge fan of a lot your titles: Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Doom, and especially games like these upcoming immerse sims as I love games like thief and deus ex.

    • I’m not a die-hard anything. I’m just not inclined to fill the pockets of a publisher that sells utterly broken products and doesn’t fulfill their promises to fix them.

      • Agreed once again. I am a die hard fan of RPG’s, however, Bethesda does not develop RPG’s. They call them RPG, but they are in fact mindless open-world Action games. Which is fine, so long as you advertise them as such. I like a mindless hack and slash now and again.

Except…hack and slash implies good combat. Which Skyrim lacked until I modded it to be unrecognizable from the vanilla game. And the mindlessness is more tolerable when you know what you are getting into.

Which we did not. Because once again Bethesda marketed a game as an RPG, and gave us a mindless, soulless action game. No racial differences, no classes, no skill trees, no choices or consequences. Exactly zero aspects of an RPG.

  24. A really awesome trailer! I can’t wait to play the game and already have it on pre-order. Visually, it reminds me of Jack Vettriano’s paintings.

    Thanks for sharing ๐Ÿ™‚

  25. This trailer looks awesome, I cannot wait to see more of this game!

As a side note For ALL you stupid people who are sad about this not being Skyrim DLC I will list the reasons your stupid.

1)Bethesda never claim to be announcing anything for Skyrim
2)The picture they posted to tease this look nothing like either Skyrim OR Fallout
3)This game is being developed by a third party studio that is IN NO WAY involved with Skyrim and its future DLC
4)New IP (intellectual property) is a fantastic thing, games recently have fallen into SEQUEL HELL,(CoD, Street Fighter, Ninja Gaiden to name a few) and something new and fresh is needed sorely in gaming
5)Did any of you actually watch the trailer it looks insane, and it has more potential in its left toe, then you could hope to have in you entire life.
6)FINALLY, they put out Skyrim 1.5 patch out just a few short weeks ago, and this shit takes time to produce and release especially if it ever wants to meet the obseenly high expectations of the fans (meaning you wont see anything immediately and if you did it would not be good enough for you anyway)
