Dragonborn coming tomorrow to Xbox LIVE. Coming to PS3 and PC early 2013.

We’re less than 24 hours away from unleashing Skyrim’s next add-on Dragonborn on Xbox LIVE.  It’s one of our most ambitious add-ons ever and we’re excited for everyone to play it.

We’re also happy to announce Dragonborn will be available on PS3 and PC early next year.

The support from Skyrim fans over the last year has been amazing, and it’s driven us to support Skyrim more than any game we’ve ever released – including free content updates, modding tools like the Creation Kit and the Skyrim Workshop, and our add-ons, Dawnguard and Hearthfire.

And we’re still not done – we look forward to sharing more Skyrim news next year!

  1. Hey Gstaff,

I’m a PS3 user and I’ve really enjoyed playing Skyrim. However; I, and many other PS3 users have come to feel undervalued and uninformed as customers. We don’t feel this way because we’re “hungry for content” or we’re looking for new things in the workings. We feel this way because of the vague communication (or lack thereof) and lack of technical support provided since the release of the game. This has been made very apparent as we’ve watched our counterparts indulge themselves in up-to-date content and patches. I understand that you can’t simply give us what we want, I get that. But I do implore you to provide informative answers to the questions of PS3 fans in order to restore confidence and a will to support Bethesda in the future. Here are mine:

    1. Should we expect a functional (not plagued by bugs) version of Dragonborn coming in a timely release (Not months after the Xbox release date).

    2. Why has it taken so long to develop any content for PS3, when it seems to easy for Bethesda to churn out content on other platforms?

    3. Should we expect any further updates on Dawnguard or Hearthfire for PS3?

    4. Should we expect the same situation and treatment with further content/games?

    Thank you.

  2. I’m disappointed that despite the announcement of only two timed exclusives for the Xbox, “Dragonborn” seems to be the third DLC that comes one month earlier for Microsoft’s console.

I was hoping to play it on PC during the holidays when I have lots of time. I guess I won’t…

But in the end the delay is no big deal. I can understand that Bethesda takes the money from Microsoft. I’d probably do the same.
I’m not even angry at Bethesda and if that money helps funding more DLCs for Skyrim or the development of future games then it’s just fine. If there’s anyone I’m angry at then it’s Microsoft.

But it also says a lot about the Xbox that Microsoft feels it’s necessary to pay for such timed exclusives just to keep their outdated console “attractive”. Doesn’t work though; at least not with me.
I’d NEVER buy an Xbox – or any other console – and give up on mods, much higher graphics quality, stutter-free high frame-rates and decent controls. 😉

  3. I was hoping Dragonborn would be released before christmas as like a christmas gift thing for pc , But you can’t always get what you hope for i guess. 🙁

  4. I’m sick of your PR blanket statement BS about “We’ll share details with everyone as soon as we can.” We already know you lied about the DLC Timed Exclusive Deal before for 2 content expansions and you arn’t fooling anyone. Hearthfire was the 2nd, so why is the 3rd another Timed Exclusive? How can your customers continue to hold any feeling of confidence in you when you continue to fail us not to mention fail to fix the mess that was the PS3 debacle. I can’t begin to feel the disappointment and outrage the PS3 camp feels because I have Skyrim for PC but I do feel betrayed by the agreement between Bethesda and Microsoft being extended beyond what was originally disclosed to the public for the reason behind the delays for the rest of your demographic. So instead of just telling us the same damn thing over and over how about some real answers?

  5. I would be excited about this, but bethesda as already lost me as a customer. I can understand that making dlc available to the ps3 is harder then other systems. But, to just ignore us for month after month, while pc and 360 gets all the dlc and all we get is a “we are working on it.” I will not be giving them any more of my money

  6. So it looks like solstheim will be a whole different map outside of skyrim, with that being said i guess its easier to function on the ps3 rather than dawnguard or hearthfire which is both adding and modifying the vanilla game which is already broken and forcing the RAM to run at its full overheating potential. I guess if we want to see both hearthfire and dawnguard on ps3 later they MUST get rid of the useless items such as embalming tools and other things that move around with a single shout and are not quest related.

  7. What’s the deal Bethesda without explaination you release some news that dragonborn comes out early 2013 for ps3 but nothing at all on the other two DLCS? If you can get dragonborn onto the system that means the others should work fine because if I remember correctly all dlc wasn’t working at all for ps3 users so what is going on with dawnguard/hearthfire? And also Microsoft did it again another 30 day exclusive rights they never cease to amaze let’s just hope this time when there exclusivity is up us ps3 users actually get what were promised and not be left in the dark shrouded by excuses on why we have no dlc Bethesda

  8. HORRIBLE service to an VERY large part of the player-base. Oh, Bethesda, I’m not gonna be buying anything you put out. ^_^

  9. So… if Dragonborn is an exclusive… why did PC users have to wait for Hearthfire?

Has Microsoft signed another exclusive deal with you, and if so, how many more DLC will be affected by it? All of them? Some? Just Dragonborn?

  10. Bethesda your false proclaims of ambition are wearing off and the only cushion now to save your ass if to hope someone doesn’t hack your shitty website and DDoS the shit out of it, good day mates.

  11. Please try to fix the bug that causes shield charge to stop working. And I would appreciate it if you also attempted to fix the issue that causes flickering on the player character’s hands, weapons, and shields in first-person view in the snow and rain. I experience this flickering on Xbox 360 a lot.

      • They’ve already said it will work for most people on PS3 if they implement it, but it has some horrible bug for a minority of users. Chances are this guy was just one of the lucky ones.

        • so it would be the same as all the rest of the game content lol most fine many with minor iusses and some with game crippling faults

      • No it doesn’t. It will never work. It can NEVER work on PS3. Seriously, don’t you keep up with the Bethpaganda? They will launch their army of lawyers to take every penny from the person for making it work even that much, when in reality they should give that person a job.

Seriously, when a random person gets more done in a week, than a team of “professionals” does in 6 months, you know it’s time to get some new professionals. If you find that insulting, prove us wrong. If half the energy that was spent covering up the DLC mess, was put towards actually fixing things, imagine how much happier EVERYONE would be.

  12. so I would have to guess Dragonborn will work on PS3 after we get 1.8 (hints that one file)

That must mean Dawnguard or Hearthfire will only work after patch 1.9 or 1.10. don’t know with no deep details from Bethesda

Guess it’s better to play the longer on dlcs first since we’ll be waiting even longer for the small ones.

  13. it doesn’t matter that they didn’t say it was coming the programming code is the same so if the could write a huge expansion like dragonborn then they can debug heartfire and should be able to rewrite or debug dawnguard for ps3

  14. Hey Beth, Im a 360 user and I appreciate all of the support and everything but I really wish you would drop the exclusivity thing. Everyone deserves to get the new dlc’s at the same time and I personally would be more than happy to go for an extended period of time with no new updates or dlc’s as long as you could dedicate 100% of your time to fixing all of the issues with the ps3 so that playstation users could enjoy the content just like everyone else.

    • The fact that companys buy (timed) exclusives has bugged me for a long time now.
I am a Ps3 user, but i would have the same opinion if Sony did this. I’m kind of over it now (the TIMED exclusives that is) since the company (in this case Microsoft) pays for something that doesn’t add any value and they probably payed for timed exclusivity for Dawnguard and Hearthfire even though they don’t run on PS3 anyways.
I still think that all gamers, no matter what platform they decide to play on should be able to buy DLC as soon as it is ready, but we can’t forget that exclusivity is extra money in the pockets of the developers (or publishers? Idunno..)

    • i appreciate the idea of that, but smart people with 360s shouldn`t be punished because sony makes it hard to adapt games to there console. but pc players get completely screwed either way.

    • Zenimax is likely more in charge of making that decision than Bethesda is. Exclusivity does suck but I doubt it’s going away anytime soon.

  15. I will not buy any DLC that comes out on ps3 until Dawnguard comes out. That’s the DLC I want the most because my character has always been a vampire in Skyrim and that would be the perfect DLC for me. If Dawnguard never comes out then I guess that means I’m not getting any DLC. Come on Bethesda, I would have thought you wanted my money. Oh well, I guess that means I’ll take it somewhere else. You guys would be the perfect example of bad business.

    • The support FROM Skyrim fans yes. Not THEIR support TOWARDS Skyrim fans.
And that support from the fans are just the modders etc.

      • Surely is not from me,because i feel betrayed by them,oh wait…scratch that…they meant “The support from Xbox 360 Skyrim fans over the last year has been amazing….plus the modders without a girlfriend that only do porn mods.” (yeh i know, not all modders to this, but in general.)

  16. hey guys just a heads up I’ve found a few gamebreaking problems with the latest update. One is and the most heartbreaking a crash occurs within just a few lines of dialogue with the first meeting of parthanaux and another lesser problem is the game crashes if you try to save after the “dreamstride” piece of vermina’s daedric quest.I have tested this on both my 360 and pc copies of the game as well as multiple saves, profiles, pc’s , and 360’s. I’v tried reinstalling, deleting cache ect..

  17. Simple. Don’t buy Dragonborn at full price. Wait for it to go on sale for 50% or 75% off. They know that people will buy the DLC content at full price no matter how long they have to wait. There is no downside to having PC owners wait 30 days, or PS3 owners several months, because people will pay full price, and then praise Bethesda for making them wait. Stop the abuse. Don’t pay full price.

  18. Ahahaha!

Oh yeah I saw that video Ahahaha! I can’t freakin believe it man all this time, all this damn time.
I’m calling you guys tomorrow for a “real” answer tomorrow…YOU CAN BET ON IT!

  19. Hello GStaff just had a simple question that I wanted to know if you could provide feedback on. Since now that Dragonborn has been announced for PS3 and PC. Will PS3 sometime in the future see the release of Hearthfire and Dawnguard or is that currently unknown?
If you could provide an answer I would appreciate it.

  20. Someone mentioned underpowered vampires for ps3 users? Lol im a ps3 user and vampires are super powerful with the fantastic necromage perk. I’m optimistic about this being released for ps3, I just hope it doesn’t turn into another dawngaurd. Dont quit on dawngaurd for ps3! We want that too!

  21. Seriously, Bethesda is awesome for releasing the creation kit. It is one of the few games left that allows user created content. Other companies (EA) are scared you won’t buy their DLC if they released a toolkit. It sucks that we have to wait 30 days for PC and PS3 DLC, but blame Micro$oft, not these guys. Its hard work to make a game, give them your thanks.

  22. Is it me or is Bethesda (GStaff) copying and pasting the same comment concerning DLC for PS3 on each posting. Another thing Bethesda (GStaff), be careful sending out praises to your “fans” about “The support from Skyrim fans over the last year has been amazing, and it’s driven us to support Skyrim more than any game we’ve ever released” since you guys can even get issues with the PS3 fixed. From what I am seeing in comments in this blog and other websites, Bethesda has lost a great deal of fan base, a.k.a. “fans”. We are still assuming that it is still broken because you guys (GStaff) will not give us details. Instead, you feed us with the same BS “we will provide details…” crap. When and if the DLC comes out to PS3, you would have lost a lot of loyal fans, both PC and PS3 because of your business practices and how you treat your customers, a.k.a. “fans”. I have seen other software developers companies admit a failure in one of their programs or product and provided details of is being done to fix it, but you guys (GStaff) cannot do this. Of course we are going to assume the DLC is not coming or Dawnguard or Hearthfire is fixed because Bethesda does not know how to communicate. GStaff might want to understand what customer service truly is. By the way GStaff, before you took the YouTube video down concerning Dawnguard on PS3, a lot of gamers have seen this, therefore, the word is out about Dawnguard. This communication was more than what your company is capable of putting out.

  23. This is good, Bethesda is finally getting a DLC to the PS3. Now i expect them to get dawnguard on there as well. I will get Dragonborn for sure, and bethesda i have to say, thank you for finally getting a dlc for ps3!

  24. Congratulations Bethesda on another astonishing epic DLC release. The quality and depth is surpassing a full expansion easily. Am highly tempted to make this my first digital DLC purchase and get all three DLCs when DRAGONBORN comes out for pc instead of waiting for the Game Of The Year version 😀 Thanks for the push of delicious temptation ha ha. Funny that the Elder Scrolls Arena was my first pc purchase way back in 1994 and now this looks to be my first digital purchase.

    Happy Holidays!

  25. i dont play skyrim on PS3 but i have to agree with everyone about the DLC issue, also what was in those linls you guys posted but were removed?

  26. Dragonborn looks so awesome that I actually started crying in front of my boyfriend and his friends. I love this game, and Yeah, I’m a girl 🙂 I love the weapons, armor and can’t wait to see all the new stuff. I hate playing it on ps3, xbox360 is awesome. I really don’t like that it freezes alot, even when I barely have any saves on my hard drive. And I hate that the ash piles from Serana are scattered all over my lake house! Lol. But all around Skyrims my fav game and I’ve put 5,563 hours into it. And Still I am finding new locations and new little secrets that I never seen. You’r awesome Bethesda!!! Can’t wait for a new fallout too.

  27. So, still only hope for us PS3 players, im sure PC will come sooner than PS3. i bet!
Thanks and please make it happen all those DLCS

  28. Please ZeniMax/Bethesda, TELL US the issue, I saw the video you blocked (5 times) And if it works for him, WHY can’t it be released!!???

  29. One question, will we be able to return to Skuldafn by riding a dragon? Not for Sovngarde, but it could give a chance to players who missed the Word Wall and/or the Dragon Priest’s stuff.

  30. I think dawn guard and hearth fire should be free to ps3 and Pc users with the purchase of the dragonborn DLC,anyone agree?

  31. I truly wish there was an open world RPG on par with The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. Hopefully when Dragonborn finally releases I will be many hours into: The Last Of Us, Grand Theft Auto V, Dead Island: Riptide and anything else that is NOT affiliated with ZeniMax or Bethesda. I did not buy Dishonored and do not plan to buy any other Elder Scrolls. I urge my fellow PS3 users to do the same- lest this cycle of mistreatment and misinformation continues.

  32. I’m a fan of Bethesda but more and more evidence showing their association with Microsoft is making me lose my faith. I actually think this Dragonborn DLC is going to be an Xbox exclusive. I wouldn’t be surprised if Elder Scrolls VI is released as an Xbox title

  33. How I picture bethesda staff meetings

Big wig- we have finished dragonborn on all consoles

    Pr guy 1-even PS3

    big wig -yeah

PR guy-then we must get them to all consoles

Big wig- nah even though they have waited months without any DLC we will make them wait longer

Emperor palpatine-good….good we go with your plan big wig

  34. I think we shouldn’t over-interpret the announcement that Dragonborn will be available for PS3. That could easily have been a typo.

  35. March 13th 2013: We have run into a bit of a hiccup and the Dragonborn DLC will not be coming this year to PC or PS3. We deeply apologise for this upsetting occurrence. In other Skyrim news, the next big DLC now titled Windcaller will be released for Xbox 360 in April 9th.

    • PC will have Dragonborn no later then Jan. 4, 2013

PS3 will have Dragonborn gods knows when between Jan-May.

Dawnguard gods knows if at all during 2013.

Hearthfire will not be on the table as it is too large a difficult to comprehend*

*Experience with Oblivion’s dlc (wizard’s tower anyone?)

      • All indications are that PC and PS3 will have Dragonborn released on them *at the same time*. It seems Bethesda’s answer to some of the PS3 crowd’s ire is to make PC users suffer the same kind of delays.
