New QuakeCon Details

The return of Peace, Love, and Rockets is nearly here!

Today we’re exactly three weeks from the kickoff of QuakeCon 2013 and excited to share updated details on the 18th running of North America’s largest LAN event. Read on for more on our keynote, presentations, panel, and exhibit hall sponsors.

As has become tradition, the first day of QuakeCon will feature a keynote address from the legendary John Carmack, id Software’s co-founder and technical director.

Along with John’s keynote, this year’s QuakeCon will feature the first public gameplay presentations for The Elder Scrolls Online, Wolfenstein: The New Order and The Evil Within — plus a special panel featuring Dishonored’s Raphael Colantonio, Ricardo Bare and Seth Shain. These events will all take place on the show’s Ventrilo Main Stage. Additionally, attendees will be able to play The Elder Scrolls Online, Wolfenstein, and Dishonored’s final game add-on, The Brigmore Witches, in the QuakeCon exhibit hall.

The Elder Scrolls Online, the next chapter in the award-winning series and the first to bring the legendary experience online, Wolfenstein: The New Order, a reimagining of the popular shooter franchise developed by MachineGames, and Dishonored: Brigmore Witches, the third add-on pack for Arkane Studios’ critically-acclaimed first-person action game, will all be playable at the show.

More after the break…

  1. Hopefully they’ll demo the Oculus rift version of Doom3 BFG or share some news related to that. But I fear that ship has sailed though.

  2. Yeah. No doom 4 again? At least show some CGI of it. Come on Carmack, you are the master of pc games. Don’t leave us hanging for another year.(at least rage was good)

  3. I can’t wait to check out Prey 2. It’s so awesome to see Bethesda give the support Human Head needed to deliver a great game.

  4. why publish any info about the upcoming qlive tournament – the prizes, the mappool, a n y t h i n g.

    no need to hurry.
its a f*cking tradition to inform the possible participants right before the event when there is no time left to plan the trip, find a sponsor, buy cheap tickets, etc.

    quakecon is such s quakecon.

  5. Now is just a Walmart.

Thank you John Carmack! amazing strategy about restrict the team size to provide a better engine, really work very well.. for you of course. Hope you enjoy be another market slogan inside the Bethesda marketing machine, to keep you “legendary” like Elder Scrolls, not much to do, but wait… just keep putting mods, like a prize here, there, is called a “better product” today.

I hope you enjoy be that studio, close to the other, inside the building X. You probably dont give a “F” for the people burned since Doom 3 and Rage, the fantastic steps about engine and gameplay.. and why? burning a few soldiers, not high rank, who cares.

Glad my friend now is working at a much better job, but he send a hello, remember the talk during the last seven years? the Tim Tim wonders, the lack in aperture, creativity and the opression? i think be part of a huge conglomerate, with all that makeup about “wonderfull place” is the best for such lidership.

A thank you to all big enterprises around.

  6. Meh.. until we see Doom 4 content, Quakecon is dead to me.

Nothing like it used to be, it’s far too formal now. The marketing men have taken over.

Over promise and under deliver… Or not promise at all and never ship, then say “we never promised”.. the new normal 🙁
