Skyrim Mash-Up comes to Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition

One of the defining principles of Skyrim is that it allows you to be who you want and do whatever you want. That ideal takes on new meaning following today’s that a Skyrim mash-up is coming soon to Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition.

Developed by our friends at 4J Studios, the mash-up features an exclusive Skyrim-themed texture set, 40 character skins, themed menus and user interface, craftable items, and more than 20 iconic selections from the original Skyrim soundtrack. On top of these features, the pre-set world recreates memorable areas including Whiterun, Riverwood, and Bleak Falls Barrow. Check out the screenshots above for a first look.

As fans of Minecraft, we’re very excited to be working with Mojang, Microsoft, 4J, and Notch to make this happen. If you happen to be at Minecon this weekend in Orlando, you can try the Skyrim mash-up at the show. For more information, read the content breakdown and FAQ after the break.

What is a Minecraft Mash-up Pack?

It’s a paid downloadable package for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition that replaces the default textures of the game with a different set to match the theme or IP of reference. It also provides Skins for the main characters, re-flavored UI look and an awesome soundtrack from that IP.

Are there any other Mash-up packs already released?

Yes. The Mass Effect Mash-up pack was released on 4th September 2013:

Is there a Trial available for Mash-up packs? If so, what do they include?

There is and it includes everything so that players can see everything before they buy. However players won’t be able to save the creations they make with the trial version with unless they purchase the pack before they exit. They can also only look and not play with the skins that are part of the pack.

Do Mash-ups affect gameplay?

No, gameplay stays 100% Minecraft, the rest is up to the player’s imagination.

What’s the price point of Mash-ups?

    • There’s no need to release a mash-up pack for pc gamers, because they can download all the stuff at sites like planet minecraft and mcschematic.

      • yes you can download alot of stuff from those sites but most require you to own your own server to import existing cities/areas, which costs more money than buying this pack would cost + we as pc gamers will not be able to match this quality (as in texture packs will simply change all villagers to one thing not the numerous npc’s that will be added in this pack) it just seems like a big fuck you to the dedicated PC players that have been loyal to both franchises for some time now. seeing as elder scrolls was originally a PC game and got their rep as being an incredible PC experience… seems really messed up to exclude us.

  1. O.o is there a PC/Mac version of this? It would be awesome having a whole skyrim world to explore and construct in with limitless map size… Just saying.

  2. Is another elder scrolls (skyrim) coming soon? But most important will playstation version still be plagued with glitches? I bought 2 of them before finding out the individual game wasn’t messed up. Now I need to buy Xbox version so I can get the add-ons. I refuse to spend money for ps3 if it won’t play right.
All in all, I wanna say, I grew up playing the original role playing D&D. Elder scrolls almost brings me back to my childhood days! GREAT WORK!!!

    • Probably not for a few years. With Beth’s current pattern, we’ll probably see a Fallout game within the next 2 or so years, and then an Elder Scrolls game. But that could be 3-4 years away, Bethesda Games Studio do not release a sequel every year. I think Fallout 3 came out in 2008, and Skyrim in 2011

  3. Only reason that this ain’t for PC is because PC has mods thousands of texture packs, servers, downloadable maps, and mass multiplayer experience, not to sound like I’m mad, but I’m pissed that I have the xbox edition rather than the PC.

  4. I know everyone is saying this would be a pointless release for PC Minecraft players, but there’s just something awesome about being a part of something official like this. If a decision to release it to us PC-ers (or Macs) is being considered I’d love to do what I can to tip the balance. I for one would definitely buy it.

    • Those are the areas that are pre-made. Being as it’s Minecraft, fans will be able to expand upon the world (already seen plenty of Skyrim creations on the PC release).

      Thanks for the comment.

  5. I like the looks of it, but I am slightly depressed that one of the skins isn’t The Nightingale, I realize it’s armor, but still. Ah well, looks cool regardless.

  6. As one last additional question, will there be any form of human NPC’s encountered as one would find in Skyrim?

  7. I’m sorry for all you PC and ps4 gamers but I can’t really complain about this Xbox is the new mojang and Bethesda capital in sales so they kind of had to put the elder scrolls 5 and minecraft together for the Xbox. Honestly I’m hooked I love love love the elder scrolls 5 Skyrim and I like minecraft so I’ll be playing so much elder scrolls 6 minecraft

  8. Was super excited to download this this am! but WHERE on earth is the “pre-made” stuff? There are no pre-set recreations that I have been able to locate anywhere. Anyone else?
