Fallout Shelter August Update: Android, Mr. Handy, and New Threats!

Earlier today at QuakeCon, Todd Howard revealed to an enthusiastic crowd that Fallout Shelter will be available for FREE on Google Play for Android devices on August 13th.

Whether you’re playing on Android or on iOS, Fallout Shelter will feature new game updates, including Mr. Handy as an all new premium reward. Have him collect resources inside your Vault, send him into the wasteland to collect loot, and defend your Vault from creatures and disasters, including all new Deathclaw invasions and Molerat infestations.

  1. Along with the Deathclaws, will there be the anti-material rifle added in order to terminate said Deathclaws? Or a weapon with the idea that it will be used effectively to deal with them? Will Mr. Handy be able to eliminate Deathclaws, and if so, how many may one vault obtain?

  2. I just hope that this bethsoftware can make this game also to buy on the Playstation Vita as a full game to play as a special edition….

    • I have a Windows phone, a Kindle and an Xbox One. I don’t own any iThings. My preference would be to play it on the PC. Is there a PC version in the works?

      Best wishes!

      • You can use Android emulator for Windows after android-version will be launched (08/13/2015)only.
I have iOs gadgets – iPad2 and iPhone 4s but they are not supported by Fallout Shelter (more than 512 Mb RAM required).
That’s why i’m waiting for Android version (no android gadjets in use)

    • I totally agree – iCloud support would be a huge improvement for this game. I am hesitant to spend money due to the fact that losing the app somehow (i.e. needing to reset your phone for bug fixing) will erase all of your progress and investment. If / when iCloud support is available I will start to buy lunch boxes.

  3. Would it be possible to sneak it in on PC?

I have it on my ipad air 2, but I’m not so good at remembering to touch it every now and then.

I’m guessing with the android release, it would technically be possible to emulate it… Tough that’d adding a layer of possible instabillities.

  4. Will the next update fix the constant crashing that plauges the iOS version? Or will it be the same as the last update where it worked for a little while then the exact same problems came back? The ‘fixes’ offered by Bethesda ‘support’ don’t actually help. It doesn’t make a lot of sense to add content to a non-working game.

  5. Could there be an import/export save feature? I’ve been playing this game obsessively on my girlfriend’s phone and wish I could continue my save file when I start playing it on my phone

  6. Is the >=1Gb RAM for iOS requirement is the final official Bethesda’s position or we can hope that Fallout Shelter will be optimized for iPhone 4s/iPad2?
I have both of these gadgets and I have no plans to change it to new ones only for one (but the best) free-to-play game. I’ll better bring some money to you buying you virtual launchboxes from my current gadgets rather than bring money to Apple or Google %)
I totally sure that a huge army of iPhone 4S/iPad2/iPad mini users will endorse me.

  7. FINALLY it is available for Android in google playstore via web and google play via smartphone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

proud to be among the top ten who have downloaded and installed from google play!

    MANY thanks Bethesda!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Can anyone tell me if they know will the game be updated to work on a Samsung Galaxy tab 3 lite model SM-T11 any time soon. I have been so excited to play this game and went to install it and it said it will not work on my model. I hope someone can tell me if I will be able to play it soon.

  9. Love this game. Been waiting since I heard about it. Only one problem. Went to buy the Mr Handy and an error happened with the game. It shows that it charged me for it but they never showed. Is there anything that can be done about this?
