Brink European Community Tournament Recap

Alistair Hatch, our European PR Manager, reports on our European community tournament held at Splash Damage’s office last week. Read details below…

Brink Community Megathon 2011

A short while ago we ran competitions with leading games websites in each of our key PAL territories for a chance to fly to London and compete in a Brink tournament before it launches this week. Eurogamer (UK), ESL (Germany), JeuxVideo (France), 3djuegos (Spain), Everyeye (Italy), Fz (Sweden), Insidegamer & 9lives (Benelux), and Gamespot (Australia) all provided one editor and three competition winners to shoot it out on Splash Damage’s innovative new shooter.

Held at the Splash Damage’s studio, the tournament kicked off with a titanic clash between old sporting rivals – UK and Australia. Perhaps it was the jetlag, or just the very fact that they’d spent 24hrs on an aeroplane, but Australia narrowly lost to the UK team in a tightly fought opening match.

European community tournament for Brink announced!

Wanted to share details on this awesome opportunity for Brink fans in Europe.

Put together by our colleagues in our London office, between May 4th and May 6th, they’ll be running a community tournament at Splash Damage HQ — pairing gaming journalists with members of their respective online communities. Together they’ll form four-person teams (one journalist, three community members) competing against other community teams in Brink’s Stopwatch mode.

To find out how you can get involved (including rules), check out the sites participating:

The winners of the event will receive either an Xbox 360 or a PlayStation 3, plus a copy of Brink.

The latest from Europe

It’s the final countdown before the weekend, but before we head out, we’ve got some great info from Europe (no, not the band).

Our colleagues over in London office have shared new magazine covers featuring both RAGE and Prey 2. Included in our Flickr slideshow are RAGE cover stories at Official PlayStation Magazine (Benelux) and GameStar (Germany), as well as Prey 2 features at PSM3 (Australia), Game Reactor (Nordic), and PC Games (Germany). All five cover stories are on newsstands now.

In other overseas news, Brink fans in Europe can watch GameFace tomorrow night at 11 PM for an all-new preview on the game. Check your local listings, but I’m told it’ll be airing on Sky Channel 125, BT Vision Channel 46, Freeview Channel 46, and Virgin Media Channel 139.

You attended GamesCom… did you do anything special parkour stuff for the show?

Gamescom was great, really enjoyed playing the game with Splash Damage’s Paul Wedgwood. We had a few appearances on stage where I pulled off a flip or two for the people. Other than that most of the day was spent doing interviews and learning how to play the game. Continue reading full article ›
